Fethiye Cheap Eats: The Sundial Burger!

Last week, we started a new series on the blog called Fethiye Cheap Eats. The criteria for the dish to be included in Fethiye Cheap Eats is quite simply that it comes in under 10 lira (about £4).

Swim, drink, eat at the Sundial

Whenever friends come out to visit, a day up at the Sundial Otel is always on the agenda. Lazing by the pool, amazing views over Fethiye, a few drinks and then a bit of food before heading home. Of course, when friends come out to visit, this is the time where our budget takes a bit of a battering so whenever we eat out, the right hand column of the menu – you know, that column where all the prices are – is studied carefully.

Fortunately for us, the Sundial has a snack menu as well as their rather appetising dinner menu so, when we were up there the other day, we perused the snack menu. There are a few choices on there that come in under 10 lira but three of us plumped for the Sundial Burger. We were hungry!

Burger At The Sundial Hotel in Fethiye

The Sundial Burger – with real chips

The Sundial Burger is no ordinary burger. It’s also got cheese, fried egg and bacon on it and it’s served with real chips (we’re not fans of frozen ‘fries’), a small salad, pickled red cabbage and pickled gherkins. We were very full after we’d worked our way through all of that!

  • The Sundial Burger is (we think) great value at 9 lira. It’s the deluxe burger on the menu and you can get a plain burger or a cheese burger with all the trimmings for 7 lira and 8 lira respectively. Don’t forget, you also get real chips.
  • The Sundial Otel is on 365 Sokak in Taşyaka, Fethiye (see our Google map of Fethiye).
  • Contact details – phone number, email and website – are available on the Sundial Otel Facebook page.

  2. @ Celine: We go up there quite a lot to have a swim. The burger is VERY yummy. 🙂

  3. Sounds delicious. And I am a fan of ‘real’ chips too (we call them fries here though).

  4. Fantastic! I have such a weakness for burgers with a fried egg!

  5. Turkish food always looks delicious, and 9 lira is truly a great deal! I remember in Istanbul I used to love the veggies, so tasty!

  6. Anonymous says

includes bacon? is that the pig variety or the kosher version?

  7. swim, eat drink, burgers, AND bacon? = heaven 🙂

  9. @ Indie.Tea: Real chips (or fries, in your case) are just the best. 🙂

@ Belinda: I’d never had one till we had this one the other day. Very nice!

@ Angela: Not too sure how Turkish this meal is – although there’s a healthy serving of pickles. 🙂

@ Anonymous: I would think it’s of the pig variety. There are a few pork places in Turkey now.

@ Erin: not far off, is it? 🙂

@ Ping: We can always squash a burger down. Yummy. 🙂
