A Dip At The Yacht Classic Hotel

After a slow start to the Turkish spring, the hotter temperatures have hit us with a bang and we can now safely say it’s summer. We’ve been swimming a few times already this season but today, we needed to swim. We needed to be submerged in a cool swimming pool.

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll know we don’t have a swimming pool and, in Fethiye’s summer heat, we become pool nomads. Last year, we had different sets of friends staying at the Golden Moon Hotel in Çalış and their pool became our oasis. The swimming pool at the Sundial Hotel offers us regular, welcome respite – but we fancied a change today; somewhere a little closer to home. Where to go?

The Yacht Classic Hotel along the Karagözler welcomes non-residents (most hotels in Fethiye do) and we’ve had a drink at the bar, overlooking the marina in the past. It seemed only natural we should head up there today to sample the swimming pool.

The Yacht Classic Hotel Swimming Pool

I’ve never understood why, but there never seems to be the customary fight for sunbeds at hotels in Fethiye; maybe guests go out on day trips or shopping. We shared the large swimming pool with a couple of other guests and had the pick of sun loungers, lined up along the edge of the marina. A couple of cold beers were purchased and we watched the (boating) world go by from a horizontal position.

We’ve got more friends arriving in Fethiye soon and we’ve heard lots of good stories about the food at the Yacht Classic marina-side restaurant. We’re thinking a day by the pool and then a meal, overlooking the luxury yachts and catamarans. Well, we’ve not asked them yet…Can we persuade them?

  1. Wow – This must be an omen as I was looking at this hotel yesterday. Maybe it is meant for me to relax by the marina supping efes all day!

  2. @ Natlie: Well, if that’s what you fancy, you’ve always got two willing companions here, just then you don’t get lonely! 🙂

  3. I wouldn’t need any persuading. Glorious pool, cool drink and luxury yachts in the background: the scene is set for the glamour granny. When can I come?

  4. @ Inka: You’re always welcome. You’d love the pool and the scenery there. Right up your street! 🙂
