Well, we know we keep going on about it, but after such a cold, wet winter, we really are enjoying the Fethiye sunshine that we've been blessed with over the last few days. It's been too nice to stay indoors and so, after a couple of months of going stare crazy while gazing out of the window and wondering when the rain would stop, for the last few days it's been on with the t-shirts and out into the open - and what a great feeling that is.
There's nothing like a dose of spring sunshine for injecting a bit of life into a tired, wintered-out body and over the last few days, our new found energy has lead us to follow some of our own advice about things to do in Fethiye. We've also jumped on the dolmuş and headed a little further afield to revisit a couple of famous Lycian sites. Of course, we didn't leave the house without camera and numerous photos have been taken, some of which will make their way onto here over the coming days and weeks.
The harsh Fethiye winter has meant beautiful, snowy mountain scenes will last into late spring. And here's one of those photos. This is the football stadium of Fethiyespor. It's a timely photo as Fethiyespor are currently challenging for a place which will allow them to move up to a higher division if they're successful. This seems to be an annual event and the team always miss out at the last moment so it's fingers crossed for them this season - although they lost to Adana yesterday.
I took this photo while we were wandering around higher ground in Fethiye on Thursday. It's strange the sights you don't notice when they're right under your nose. There I was, taking photos of the bay from our vantage point (more on that particular 'vantage point' in future posts) and then the football ground caught my eye. I couldn't help but notice what a fabulous backdrop it has. Not a bad place to play your football is it?
Our new found energy inevitably means things just got a lot busier on this blog - more so than usual - and if you want to find out what we've been up to, what we've eaten, where we've been, and where we're going in the future, keep an eye out for our upcoming posts.
