Fethiye Photo: Sunset In Koca Çalış

We’ve gone back into the archives for today’s Fethiye photo – it’s two years old but it’s still a favourite. Last week, we waited till Saturday to post the Fethiye photo because it was the anniversary of the death of Atatürk and we wanted to have a photo of the new Atatürk statue in the town square. Today, we’re going the scenic route and we’re taking you right around the coastline to Koca Çalış.

As the weather begins to cool right down in late November, early December, the orange sunsets take on the colder shades of pinks and lilacs but are still equally as vibrant as the deep, warm oranges of summer.

Koca Çalış Sunset, Fethiye
Winter sunset in Koca Çalış
Koca Çalış has changed a lot since this photo was taken – the inevitable buildings are springing up along the shore – but, for now at least, there are still natural areas like this where the reeds tower above us…and make for a good subject of interest in a sunset photo.
And anyone who knows this area knows the scenery around Koca Çalış must be beautiful – after all, film makers chose this stretch of beach for one of the scenes in the new James Bond film, Skyfall. Confirmation there, should you need it.
