Turkey 2012 - The Online Year That Was...

Our final blog post of 2012 and we thought we'd keep it light and do something a bit different at the same time. Usually, the taking of photographs is down to the female half of this little blogging twosome but 2012 brought about some changes.

We were bought a rather lovely Samsung Galaxy tablet last Christmas (thanks dad!) and that opened up a whole new area of the social media world for us...Instagram. As I'm almost permanently carrying my regular camera, Barry has had to take charge of the tablet and Instagram photos...and here's a little showcase of the year in Instagram, as taken by the male half of the blogging twosome.

Turkey (& Italy) 2012 - A Year In Instagram

Üzümlü Wine House, Şarap Evi
We couldn't start 2012 straight away because we had to wait for Instagram to become compatible with Android. Once that happened, we were off and running - and one of Barry's first photos was taken at the Üzümlü Mushroom Festival back in April.
Rome Colosseum
Soon after, we were in Rome and don't mind admitting we were very pleased to find the Colosseum; the starting point of our sightseeing day. It took the help of GPS before we spotted this famous world sight through the trees in the distance. Just look how many people were around! We kept on the upper path, away from the masses.
Deep Blue Bar, Paspatur, Fethiye, Turkey
The tablet is carried around on most occasions because you never know where a good photo opportunity is going to come from. Paspatur, looking very pretty here - as viewed from Deep Blue Bar, of course.
Yacht Classic Hotel, Fethiye
Summer 2012 was all about the Yacht Classic Hotel for us as friends stayed there (as did James Bond actor Daniel Craig). We were regular visitors and this is evident in the photo collection.
Olive Garden Restaurant, Kabak
The tablet came to Kabak with us and the Olive Garden proved to be a place where the taking of many photographs is addictive!
Çalış Beach, Fethiye, Turkey
The tablet even came to Çalış with us while we were enjoying a day on the beach, relaxing.
Koca Çalış, Fethiye, Turkey
And it came to beach bars with us at the other end of the beach in Koca Çalış. Amazing what a filter can do to make the Çalış beach shingle look of so golden!
Sundial Hotel, Fethiye
There are loads of photos of the Sundial Hotel in our collection, but we did say we were keeping it light for our last post of 2012. This weather stone always makes us titter. Obvious humour, but funny all the same.
Yacht Classic Hotel, Fethiye
Oh look, we're back at the Yacht Classic Hotel again. This time, Fethiye is looking all tropical with the hotel nestled in amongst the trees.
Shaka Restaurant, Fethiye
Because the tablet is much carried around, random photos like this are possible. This is one of the table lights at Shaka Restaurant along Fethiye harbour. 2012 has been the year of the new restaurant appearing on the scene in Fethiye. 2013 will hopefully be a year where they can all establish themselves...
Izmir Sculpture At Sunset
And of course the tablet came to Izmir with us back in September. We both loved this sculpture along the seafront. This is the filtered sunset. You may remember an earlier post where we did the non-played with Izmir sunset.
Ölüdeniz Air Games 2012, Turkey
Well we couldn't have a year of Instagram photos without including the Ölüdeniz Airgames could we? Everyone loves a paragliding shot.
Sundial Hotel Winter Fire
And December saw us back at the Sundial. It's been very mild temperatures so far in Fethiye, but that doesn't mean we don't love sitting by the open fire. There's no shortage of open fires in Fethiye but this is one of our favourites.

And there you have it: our first year as Instagram users with just a few of our photos. A pretty good effort, we think. If you're an Instagram user and you enjoyed our photos, come and join us for more Turkey goodness. You can follow us from our Instagram profile:

Thanks to all for reading throughout 2012 and we hope to see you on the other side in 2013.
For now, a very Happy New Year to you. Yeni Yılınız Kutlu Olsun.

Great photos guys! I especially like the sandy beach photo. Maybe we'll finally have to invest in a tablet this year. We'll see as we might also have to get new cell phones. :-( Cheers!
