We’ve Been AWOL…But We’re Still In Fethiye

We’re quite lax with our blog posts – sometimes there’ll be a glut of them all in a row, and then, other times, they’ll be a bit thin on the ground; just a couple in a week. And, for us, that’s the way it should be. If things get a bit too regimented, there’s no flow – and what we really want to convey in terms of our love for Fethiye, Turkish food and travel in Turkey just disappears into meaningless sentences.

But this week has been different. We’ve been completely AWOL. Silent. Following the Soma mining tragedy, apart from just not feeling up to writing blog posts, as a result of the tragedy, it was also out of respect that we chose stay silent for those miners who lost their lives. We wrote an update on our Turkey’s For Life Facebook page and that’s about it…

Alongside that, we also live in Fethiye – a tourist area – and our summer season has kicked off at fast pace. We’ve had a few different UK friends arrive all at once. Visiting us at the moment, we’ve got two friends with a young child who stayed at the Letoonia Resort in Fethiye last year. They enjoyed it so much, they’ve stayed there again this year. And, as a very lovely and very kind birthday present for me and Barry, they also booked us both in for a surprise couple of nights too…which made for three long, chilled out days with close friends who we’ve not seen since last April. We got home to Fethiye, from our break in Fethiye, yesterday.

Fethiye views – holidaying at home

So what’s next? Well, we intend to get back to some sort of blog post pattern…in our usual lax way, of course. We’ve just had three days in an all-inclusive hotel – and we don’t do all-inclusive – and we don’t do big hotels…usually. But, we’ve decided to do a mini series of posts about our experience at Club & Hotel Letoonia Fethiye and the first of those posts will be tomorrow…

  1. Looks beautiful! Blessings, Catherine

  2. It was horrible hearing about the poor miners who were killed and injured and their families. I did not even know Turkey had mines, but of course they do. As travellers we don’t always think of things like that.

By the way could you spell Fethiye phoenetically for me. I am never sure how to pronounce it. 🙁

  3. . . away on holiday – whatever next!!!
