Our Current Daily Life In Turkey – It’s a Tad Busy

Wow, a busy few days comes along and then, all of a sudden, it’s been a few days since your last blog post. If you like our Turkey’s For Life Facebook page or follow us on Twitter, you’ll have a rough idea of what we’ve been up to, but if it’s just the blog you read, then we might appear to have been AWOL. Well, let’s have a little catch up.

We’ve got lots of friends coming and going at the moment – summer in Turkey and all that – but we’ve got lots more new stories to tell you, along with all the others we still had to tell you before the new ones came along. So what’s coming up on the blog…?

Lots of different groups of friends being here means we’ve been darting about here and there and grabbing bites to eat as we go. That means we’ve got a couple of additions to our Fethiye Eating & Drinking page. We’ll probably do one of those over the course of this weekend…

Amazingly, we’ve still got some tales to tell from last year’s East Turkey adventure. In our mini road trip from Patnos to Tatvan, we’ve yet to tell you about Tatvan and we also had a little adventure around Lake Van on our last day in the east. We’ve still got more tales from Antalya, too, from when we went to Runtalya earlier this year, and now, we’ve added another set of wanderings to the list…

Dalyan River, Turkey

Sailing along the river in Dalyan

Because another reason we’ve been AWOL is that for the last couple of days, we’ve been in Dalyan. It was just one of those things. A couple of weeks back, we shared our blog post on Facebook, Day Trip From Fethiye: Dalyan. People commented underneath and lots of people hit the ‘like’ button – it seems we’re all agreed that Dalyan is a pretty special corner of the world. We’d only ever been for the day a few times; we’d never done an overnight stay…but we have been talking about for ages…so we just decided to get up and go.

And you know us; always travelling as light as possible and always on a budget. The night before we left, we booked a cheap hotel with a pool through Booking.com, threw swimming stuff, a change of clothes, camera and laptop in a couple of small overnight bags and the morning after, went off to Fethiye otogar. Just over one hour later, we were in Dalyan.

So the hotel review will be coming up; obviously, there will be food and drink posts (aren’t there always?) and, as you can see in the photo, we also had a little sail along the river to Iztuzu Beach – that of caretta caretta fame. Our little escape to Dalyan was all very chilled out, relaxed, peaceful…and now we just need to get cracking with the blog posts.

At the beginning of the post, we linked to our Facebook page and Twitter account. You can keep up with us on those on a daily basis and, especially when we’re elsewhere, you can also keep up with us in pictures if you click this link to follow Turkey’s For Life on Instagram.

We’ve had three holidays in Dalyan and also a few days there while travelling from one resort to another. I really enjoy it when I’m there. So laid back and friendly.
