A few days ago, we had another blogger visiting Fethiye. She was visiting the area for the weekend with family and was staying at Alesta Yacht Hotel along the Karagözler in the centre of Fethiye.
We met up with Joy of My Traveling Joys back when we were in Istanbul in April so we wanted to catch up with her again…and we got the opportunity to finally have a mooch around the newly refurbished Alesta Yacht Hotel.
Those who know the Fethiye of a few short years ago will remember the Alesta Yacht Hotel was the Prenses Hotel in a past life.
When all the hotels along the Karagözler were given drastic facelifts, the poor old Prenses looked a bit sad and neglected – until the Alesta Yacht company stepped in that is.
Joy was only in Fethiye for a fleeting visit and it wasn’t until her last morning that we could catch up with her. We went to reception to ask for her and took a seat while the staff tracked her down.
We took the opportunity to take a few photos of the reception area while we waited and admired the surroundings.
While there’s a minimal feel to the reception area, there’s lots of comfortable indoor and outdoor sofa-seating and a bar.
But we were hoping we’d be told to go up to the roof terrace. We knew the views would be fabulous from up there, just as they are from the Dedeoğlu Hotel just a few doors down.
Luckily for us, Joy was on the roof terrace. We took the lift to the top of the building.
Morning views over Fethiye when the sea is perfectly still are just unbeatable. The view from the roof terrace of the Alesta Yacht Hotel certainly didn’t disappoint.
The roof terrace is taken up with a restaurant and a small sunbathing area with a plunge pool – but it was the views that commanded our attention…
Traditional, Turkish wooden gülets directly below us and hundreds of sleek, modern yachts lining the Ece Saray Marina just to our left. We could have stood there all day, watching the world below.
And then we both had the same thought…just imagine what these views over Fethiye would look like at night. The roof terrace of Alesta Yacht Hotel is also a restaurant – so this is now added to our ever-growing list of things to do in Fethiye.
Of course, we’ll let you know when we do eventually make it up there…
