Eating & Drinking - Buffalo Steakhouse, Fethiye

The Buffalo, Fethiye
Buffalo Steakhouse, Fethiye Harbour
A lovely day today. A very weekendy weekend really. Yesterday was Saturdayish and today was Sundayish. It's Barry's dad's birthday so they came round to our house for a Sunday barbecue. Chicken wings (kanat) and şiş kebabs. I made some ezme as well which I'll do a post on tomorrow I think. It takes a bit of time to make so I only do it for special occasions but it's always a winner. Anyway, it's 10pm and I'm sat on our lovely balcony with the barbecue right next to me because there's still some heat in it and a glass of red wine. That's what makes Sundays pleasant.

Today's photo is of the Buffalo Steakhouse just off Fethiye harbour. We were there this afternoon for a few drinks and a few games of pool with Barry's parents. It opened just before New Year and is a bit of a first for the centre of Fethiye. So far so good I think which is great for us and for Fethiye because you can't beat a bit of variety. We've eaten there three times now (with the irony being that we've not tried a steak yet but we've heard rave reports about them - must make the effort soon) and it's always been at lunchtime so I can't comment on the evening menu. I can recommend the Buffalo burgers (huge fat things) and the pide (Turkish pizza) from the lunch menu.

We're always chirruping on about how we eat out cheaply and we usually do. I can't say Buffalo is cheap (actually the pide is cheap for a restaurant - and very good) but I suppose 'cheap' isn't what I mean when I say we eat out cheaply. I mean value and Buffalo is good value. I hate it when we go somewhere, pay loads of cash for a meal with a patterned tomato and a frilly carrot (you know what I mean - it happens the world over) and the actual meal is rubbish. We both love cooking and if I can do better myself for a fraction of the price, it really bugs me. Anyway, the atmosphere at Buffalo is very steakhousey, they've got a pool table in a reading room (posh) and they've introduced a loyalty card system which gives you some discount. Silver, gold and platinum, depending on your spends in there. Not in the least ashamed to say we're using our loyalty card (fall for all the gimmicks I do) as any money off your bill is always a bonus as far as I'm concerned!
Update 28/05/10 - It appears that Buffalo Steakhouse in Fethiye has now closed
*Update December 2011 - Buffalo Steakhouse has now reopened :))
